Hey Backer Family,
We hope you're in the middle of a happy holiday season!
We are so pleased to announce that last week we signed the dotted line with the guitar manufacturers and Chordly production is in full swing! After months of back and forth with them, we feel incredibly confident in their quality and the final product they are going to be able to produce for us.
Our other great news to share is that all of our add-on items - Chordly stands, the card decks and extra strings have already been completed and are at the manufacturing warehouse to be shipped to us together with the Chordlys.
We expect it will likely be at least 30 more days with the manufacturing and then shipping time to us and then from us to you. But we are getting closer to delivering these to you each day now!
Calling All LEFTIES! During the Kickstarter we had many folks reach out to us about using Chordly for a left-handed player. Originally we had said you could simply swap the string orientation after you receive Chordly. But now we've spoken to our manufacturer and they are happy to do that for you, so Chordly can come left-handed if you need.
If you are interested in a left-handed Chordly, please send us an email
[email protected] and we will update your order. You can get a lefthanded Chordly in both Cherry and Walnut.
We are getting so close now!
Keep Jamming,
Marty, Laurel & Baby Jacquelyn
PS. Jacquelyn is very excited about getting to quality-check all of our orders! ;)
1980's vs The Present

Did you know...
...that the radial curvature of a guitar's fretboard was more radical pre 1980's than it is today? Meaning... where you put your fingers to make chords was actually more rounded, whereas post 1980's it became slightly flatter!
We didn't know that either! In fact, we were FINALLY ready to place our big order with our guitar manufacturer as they had made the perfect sample. As we requested the Purchase Order, however, they noticed our original prototype (from years ago!) was actually designed around a pre-80's modeled guitar, therefore having this more radical curvature of a fretboard.
More specifically, the radial curvature of a fender fretboard from the 1950's through the 1980's was 7.25 inches. After the 80's the universal decision amongst guitar makers became 9.5 inches, making the fretboard slightly flatter.
With that said, we want to ensure that Chordly gives everyone the BEST practicing experience that directly translates to your guitar playing. Since most of you are playing guitars that are post-1980's, we thought it best to make one last sample giving that 9.5 inch curvature fretboard, so that your practice seamlessly transfers to your guitar playing.
Image of the new sample next to our old sample below. It's a subtle difference, but it will be better for you and your practicing!
Thank you for your patience as we GUARANTEE that we are doing everything we can to make the absolute best guitar practice tool for you and also trying to get it done as quickly as possible. Obviously, we wish this adjustment was brought to our attention earlier, so as not to be late on our shipping deadlines, but after we were explained the difference, it made sense to put in that little extra effort to make the best Chordly possible.
It is SO SO close to being all finished and then we will move forward with production. You can rest assured that we will keep you posted on the process as we get nearer to shipping your Chordly to you.
P.S. You can still change your physical address if you need by emailing me at
[email protected] with any changes and I will manually make sure that your account is updated.
Keep Jamming,
- Marty & Laurel (& Baby Jacquelyn)

Updated Shipping Timeline + A Major Update

Hello Team Chordly,
We are so excited to tell you we received our last pre-production sample today and it is perfect! We are so proud of the end product and know it is going to be a gamechanger for your guitar practice time!
The guitar maker has estimated 60 days to fulfill the order then we will be packaging Chordlys and your add-ons and getting them off to you ASAP! As we move through the process, we will make sure to keep you posted!
OUR BIG UPDATE we've been waiting to share is this final prototype included a great change our guitar maker wanted to try. They were experimenting with using BONE for the nut and bridge instead of maple wood for increased lifetime playability. We just got the sample with BONE a few days ago and it has been such a great addition as we believe it's going to hold tension better and not wear down like the wood could have over time. (picture below)
We're getting so close! Thanks for being on this exciting journey with us!
- Laurel & Marty
P.S. Here's our very first prototypes of Chordly two years ago side by side with our most recent pre-production final sample from our guitar manufacturer - It's come a long way!
P.P.S. If your address changes between now and when we ship go ahead and send me an email -
[email protected] and I will manually update your address in our system. I'll send a reminder of this before we ship, as well.

Hey Backers,
Just wanted to give you a quick update on where we are with Chordly! We've had about 4 different Chordly pre-production samples sent to our house, and we are SO close to confirming the final sample.
This has taken a bit longer than we expected because our guitar maker has come up with some really neat improvements to make Chordly even better!
Anyways, I'll share those on the next update after we've received our (hopefully) final sample. Unfortunately, this mean we won't be able to ship this month as we originally hoped. After we get the final sample, I will make sure to update you all with the updated timeline.
Thanks so much for your patience. We are ridiculously excited to get this in your hands and are working every day to move the needle forward!
- Your Chordly Team, Marty & Laurel (and Jacquelyn)!
P.S. There are still a few of you that haven't completed your shipping information. If that's you, send me an email and I will make sure to send you that link. ([email protected]) If we don't have your shipping information, we can't ship you your Chordly and we certainly don't want that to happen!
PPS. We just started filming our videos for the Chordly library to help make practicing with Chordly even easier! We will let you know how to get access to this library ;)

Hi Backers!
This is just a quick reminder that we need you to complete the Pledge Manager Survey which was sent directly to your inbox about two weeks ago.
The subject line was: "Reminder - Response needed to deliver your reward for Chordly: The Portable Guitar Practice Tool"
If you can't find this email, please let me know at [email protected] and I will resend it for you. ALSO, we will be extending the deadline to verify your address to the end of the month, as there are still a few folks left that haven't confirmed.
Please complete the survey so we can move forward with your order by 1) confirming shipping information and 2) The choices you made when backing the campaign.
Let us know if you cannot find the Pledge Manager Survey or if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Marty & Laurel
